ABOUT US
Celebrate gay + lesbian films with the fifth year of Birmingham SHOUT at in Birmingham’s Downtown. The film festival will showcase features, documentaries and short films by new and established artists and offer attendees the opportunity to view topics of interest to the LGBT communities, as well as to interact with filmmakers and documentary subjects attending. Birmingham SHOUT is Alabama’s first and only gay + lesbian film festival and we are proud to support the growing LGBT community in the Magic City, along with providing compelling content for anyone interested in alternative/independent films.
Birmingham SHOUT began in 2006 with the help of the Alabama Moving Image Association (AMIA), which is best known for the nationally recognized Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival. Currently in its fifth year, Birmingham SHOUT is being produced with the strong support of a community-based volunteer committee under continued support from AMIA.
Over the last 4 years, Birmingham SHOUT has hosted dozens of filmmakers and subjects, and welcomed thousands of ticket-holders. Our successful past has proven that the LGBT communities in Birmingham are hungry for more events that reflect who they are and where their passions lie.
Birmingham Shout is a project of the Alabama Moving Image Association, Inc., a publicly supported 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created to inspire, encourage and support films and filmmaking in Alabama.
